Mission in Palawan, Philippines (August 21 – 24, 2025)

From August 21–24, 2025, an international surgical team conducted adult and pediatric hernia surgery at TayTay District Hospital in Palawan, Philippines, integrating direct patient care with focused training and teaching initiatives. The mission was carried out in collaboration with Sui Generis Missions, the Philippine Hernia Society, and Cebu Doctors Hospital, with a strong emphasis on capacity building and sustainable surgical education. The program was jointly led by Dr. Henry Chua (Cebu Doctors Hospital), Wayne Huang (IRCAD Taiwan), and David Chen (Hernia Repair for the Underserved), fostering international collaboration while expanding access to safe, high-quality surgical care in a resource-limited setting. Over the course of the mission, more than 1,500 patients received medical, dental, and optometric care, including 150 general surgery operations, of which over 30 were hernia repairs.
