November 2025 Santiago Dominican Republic ILAC Trip
The ILAC Hernia Mission team made their 22nd trip to the Dominican Republic during the first week of November. Once again, even though it was the first trip for about one-third of the team, the teamwork, compassion, and clinical expertise provided by each team member was consistently evident in the care of each patient from the clinic evaluation to post surgical discharge. Bob Cusick, Keith Paley, Nick Carter, and newcomer Adam Smith, coordinated by Mike Sarr, were our operating surgeons for this Mission. In all, we served 72 more people – 52 adult patients and 20 pediatric patients – with no significant post-operative complications, even though there were again some significantly complicated inguinal scrotal hernias. Our only disappointment for the week, was our Inability to serve even more patients! Plans have already commenced in planning for 2026.
